Input on Realtor/Customer Relationships Needed ( 0 replies. )

Hello,

I am in an Operations Management class and our job is to pick a company and help improve a process. My group and I chose to help a small real estate company. I have 2 main questions I would like input on, and I'll leave the summary of why I am asking below. The post is a bit long so not everyone will want to read through it all.

1 - As a realtor what do you expect from your customers? For example, I would think a realtor expects that their client is not working with other realtors at the same time
2 - As a realtor, are there any customer expectations that you refuse to meet? For example, some realtors will not preview homes for a buyer because it doesn't make sense to him/her, another realtor may find this beneficial, expecially when working with multiple clients. What demands have you had that caused you to stop working with a client?

The company I am working said a major problem now is that the markets are over saturated and it takes buyers a long time to make an offer on a home....thereby delaying income to the realtor. Our initial thought was to create a means to find out exactly what a buyer wants to help with this. It got shot down because its not the "root cause" of the problem.

I am currently going through the experience of purchasing my first home and I am very indecisive about making on offer on any home. Not because I am scared or not ready, I just haven't found "the one" yet. There are homes that are OK, but I am not in love with any of them. Everyone tells me I will just know so that is what I am waiting for. For me there is nothing emotional about it so far. Because I am taking a long time I feel like my realtor is getting frustrated with me over this.

So I got to thinking that maybe the real issue is that there is a discrepancy is what my expectations are and what my realtor's expectations are. For example, she has made some comments that make me feel like she thinks I am not being proactive enough. Which maybe I am not - not because I am uninterested, I just don't have the time...that is why I am working with a realtor. Otherwise I might as well look for a home on my own. I just think that maybe if we communicated our expectations up front we might never have even decided to work together. But now we are finding out too late and already have the time invested with each other to turn back.
